Been reading a new book called 7 rules of power by Jeffrey Pfeffer a professor at Harvard.
It’s honestly a very interesting read
I like this book better than the 48 laws of power
The first rule of power is to not get in the way of yourself
The world is inherently unfair in nature
But we tend to create constraints on ourselves and our business as it everything is required to be just and fair…
The best entrepreneurs I know live by this rule
They understand that they need to play the game their way, that the rules are not fixed and they basically can do what they want as long as they are okay with it
That’s what is meant by not getting in your own way…
At the start of my journey, I always thought I NEEDED to prove to myself that I have the skills to market products and services well…
Not saying that I don’t know but I realised that its a self-imposed constraint that didn’t serve me well the last 4 years…
I realised that power is power, success is success no matter what story we tell ourselves when we look at other successful people.
Rather focus on yourself and improve daily
