| So, over the weekend, I had the privilege of speaking at my friend Marc’s Mastermind… I also shared the EverGrowth Flywheel concept with the audience. Interestingly, I also learned some things from my talk—I’ll share them with you over the next few days. For today, the biggest insight I have for you is this: Confidence comes from Competence. If you’ve followed me long enough, you’d know I have imposter syndrome. In fact, I shot a video 5 years back talking about it.
That video has 150 views. Initially, the next video I did only had views about 345. That led me to not publish for 3+ years because I feared failing on camera. Then, I re-published it in 2021 because I had accumulated enough experience to share what I know with the market. As you know, I’m a reserved introvert, unlike many of the charismatic extroverts in our industry. I’m more comfortable working behind the scenes of a campaign rather than being the “RAH RAH” guru. That led me to fear public speaking, where I had to speak in front of a crowd. Interestingly, my YouTube journey has helped me deal with that. Why? YouTube forced me to:
Knowing what I deliver works and how I explain is clear, simple, and easy to apply… This boosts my confidence level in speaking, and the fear disappears. So if you’re reluctant or terrified at the thought of creating content… Just know that you probably won’t be world-class on Day 1… You will Fail… and that’s NORMAL. Failure is the cost you have to pay to gain competence. And competence is the ingredient that will help you become more confident. Hope this insight is helpful to you no matter which part of your entrepreneurship journey you’re at… |
