Had an interesting convo in our EverGrowth call today…
About stress.
And it got me thinking…
We’ve all heard those “hustle porn” gurus preaching: “No sleep till success!” “Grind 24/7!” “If you’re not stressed, you’re not growing!”
But here’s what they don’t tell you…
There’s a “Goldilocks Zone” when it comes to stress.
Too little? You get comfortable. Plateau. Stop growing.
Too much? You burn out. Make stupid decisions. Break down.
Just right? That’s where the magic happens.
Let me break this down…
During COVID, I was operating at MAX stress: • Couldn’t pay staff • Everything was dying • Had to pivot multiple times • Constant fight-or-flight mode
And yeah, that stress helped me survive…
But it also programmed me to SEEK stress even when I didn’t need it.
Like I’d create unnecessary goals… Set arbitrary deadlines… Chase numbers I didn’t even care about…
Just to feel that familiar “pressure.”
Crazy, right?
But here’s what I learned…
Sometimes we create stress because we think we NEED it to succeed.
We see other entrepreneurs posting their “grind lifestyle”…
And think that’s the only way.
But let me ask you something…
Is working 12-hour days REALLY necessary? Do you ACTUALLY need to hit that arbitrary revenue goal? What if you could grow WITHOUT killing yourself?
Look at the most successful people in our community…
They’re not the ones grinding themselves to dust.
They’re the ones who found their “Goldilocks Zone”: • Enough stress to stay motivated • Enough pressure to keep growing • But not so much they can’t enjoy life
One member shared today how she finally learned to separate her emotional state from work…
And guess what?
Her business actually performed BETTER.
Wild how that works, eh?
So here’s my challenge to you:
Take a hard look at your stress levels.
Are you creating unnecessary pressure? Are you confusing movement with progress? Are you stressed for the right reasons?
Because sometimes…
The path to growth isn’t adding MORE stress…
It’s finding the right BALANCE.
